Welcome to the way I care

I offer support to people living with dementia. I work with their retained abilities and strengths, building relationships and providing support in the ways they need and want.

My aim is to create moments of shared joy and to make sure everyone I work with feels safe, seen, and connected.

1-to-1 Support to focus on:

  • Connection first – building trust and meaningful relationships

  • Happiness and comfort – centred on what matters most to the individual, and from their perspective

  • Team support – working collaboratively with family, carers, and professionals already involved

My Approach

I bring skills from a variety of respected approaches, including:

  • Positive Approach to Care® / Snow Approach (Teepa Snow)

  • Namaste Care

  • Dementia Care Mapping

  • Validation Method

  • Contented Dementia Trust

This allows me to respond flexibly and creatively to each unique situation

A Flexible Approach

Every situation is different. The kind of support I provide depends on the needs and wishes of the person living with dementia, as well as the strengths and challenges of the team around them.

Sometimes this means practical help; sometimes encouragement, problem-solving, or simply strengthening connections. It involves making space for curiosity, a giggle, fun, and sometimes tears — to share moments as equals; to engage all the senses, whether through the arts, time with nature, playing a game, or perhaps eating together. The list is endless, and unique.

The best support we can all offer is to take feedback from the person living with dementia and adjust. We won’t get it right first time, every time — there will be Uh-oh! moments and Aha! moments. There will be times we excel, and times we need to pause, reflect, and try something else. Genuine dementia support is about awareness and listening, interpreting non-verbal communication correctly, keeping what works, and changing what doesn’t work.

Practical Support / Personal Care

I can provide assistance with personal care — always with the person living with dementia, never to them.

Everything I do is based on permission, building trust, with kindness and increasing skill.

What Matters Most?

Amid the pace of daily life, it can help to pause and ask, what truly matters most?

At the heart of being human is connection—to ourselves, to others, to nature, and to the arts. Michael Verde reminds us, “It is not the amount of time we have, but the quality of the presence we bring to one another.”

As Dame Cicely Saunders so beautifully said, “You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life.”

Through this presence, we can create moments of shared joy and a closeness to cherish, even alongside the grief.

Training as a Bonus

For those who choose to invite me to work with them in helping their loved one, I am delighted to offer a free introduction to Positive Approach to Care® with ‘Dementia Orientation - What is Dementia Really?’. A 2 hour workshop to help understand changes in the brain due to dementia. To help see the value in what remains as the condition progresses, as well as an introduction of supportive responses.

Key points:

  • Describe the difference between the term Dementia and Alzheimer’s

  • Identify the four truths about all forms of Dementia

  • Identify the impact of vision change on People Living with Dementia

  • Identify the impact of language change on People Living with Dementia

  • Understand the three zones of awareness and the significance of Visual, Verbal, and Touch spaces

  • Identify the typical situations where pausing is best

This practical and understanding approach can support families, carers, and teams, helping make care feel more connected and less overwhelming

Free Conversations

Because every person and every family is unique, I offer:

  • A free initial meeting with the person living with dementia. To listen, connect, and see if I might be the right fit.

    and

  • A free initial discussion with a family member or caregiver, to share concerns, goals, and questions (online or by phone).

These are simply opportunities to connect, explore, and see how I might be helpful — with no obligation.

My rate is £30 per hour

Let’s Begin a Conversation

If what I’ve shared here resonates with you, I would be glad to hear from you.

Whether you’re living with dementia yourself or supporting someone who is, I welcome the chance to connect and explore how I might be of help.

A dog lying on a table surrounded by holiday decorations, books, pinecones, and various small items.
A collection of items on a table, including a woman with a cello, an abstract painting, a colorful wheel, a box of Mr. Kipling cakes, a pink card with a red rose, a quirkle rummy card game, a small bottle, and various printed materials about music and dementia.

These images offer only a glimpse of what I might bring,

my bag is never the same twice!
