ABOUT ME
I live in Chingford with my husband and our dog.
My commitment to dementia care began in 2019 when my mum was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia, a rare language-led dementia. At first, I had no understanding of what dementia was, but as I learned that it’s a wide range of symptoms caused by changes in the brain, I realised that my own approach and conduct would profoundly affect how Mum experienced life.
That understanding sparked my learning process. The more I discovered, the more passionate I became. I continue to learn, to listen, and to grow—and I hope I never stop!
Mum now lives in a nearby care home, where she has her own life as part of that community. I visit once or twice daily, and while she enjoys her independence, this gives me the opportunity to dedicate time to further learning and work supporting others.
One of the most rewarding steps on this path was becoming a PAC certified Dementia Educator. The awareness, knowledge and skills of the (Teepa) Snow Approach have transformed the way I care for Mum—supporting her better, strengthening our relationship, and improving my own wellbeing. It is now a privilege to be licensed to offer some courses to both families and professionals. I especially enjoy working one-to-one or small group sessions, as it allows for a more connected and tailored learning experience.
I am continually inspired by the courage and spirit of those living with dementia, from diagnosis through every stage of the journey. I have a deep passion for end-of-life care.
I am very proud to volunteer at a local hospice (for Namaste Care) with special times, and spend some time at a local hospital (visiting people with dementia on a ward).
I hold a current DBS check, along with certificates in Moving and Assisting and First Aid. My main professional certifications include:
Dementia Care Mapping™
Namaste Care™
Teepa Snow’s, Positive Approach to Care® Certified Dementia Educator - licensed
Member of National Association of Care and Support Workers (NACAS), and insured with Surewise
