DEMENTIA oRIENTATION - WHAT IS DEMENTIA, REALLY?

2 hours

A basic appreciation for what happens in the brain due to some form of dementia. Specifically, attendees will discover the value in what remains as the condition progresses, as well as an introduction of supportive responses

Included Objectives:

  • Describe the difference between the term Dementia and Alzheimers

  • Identify the four truths about all forms of Dementia

  • Identify the impact of vision change on People Living with Dementia

  • Identify the impact of language change on People Living with Dementia

  • Understand the three zones of awareness and the significance of Visual, Verbal, and Touch spaces

  • Identify the typical situations where pausing is best

Cost for individuals: £30 per person (one-to-one or small groups). Complimentary for families I work with

CARE PARTNER SUPPORT SERIES

90 minutes per session over 5 weeks

  • Session 1: Understanding and Accepting Dementia

  • Session 2: Common Brain Changes and Supportive Techniques

  • Session 3: Sensory Changes - Increasing Awareness and Understanding Impact

  • Session 4: Facing Challenging Situations

  • Session 5: Techniques to Reduce Distress, and Wrap Up
